Hello SPRA Members,
I hope you are all doing well and adapting to these unprecedented times. I hope there has been minimal impact to you and your families. The executive felt it was important to provide information on the next steps that will be taking place over the next few weeks. Typically with each year-end, we would have already had our AGM but with the current restrictions placed upon us, that has been impossible.
To enable our association to keep moving forward, there are a few items that need to be addressed. As you all know, a successful association needs a host of volunteers. This year we will once again be looking for volunteers to join the Executive. This process is going to be different from past years. SPRA will be looking for individuals to come forward to help fill these roles. Within the next few days, you will see additional communication specifying which roles need to be filled. Being part of the Executive is an excellent opportunity to get involved and help keep the sport in our community.
The next item that we need to work through is Policies. Every year it is the duty of the Executive to review and make recommended changes. This is now complete and the policies will be on the website for your review as early as next week. The way we vote the policies in for the season will be accomplished with online voting. We will send out additional communication regarding this.
This year the AGM is going to take place online in the form of a webinar. You will have to register for the AGM and we will provide a link for this within the next few days. This year we will not be providing the traditional $50 rebate for attending the AGM. As you all know, many people are being affected by the pandemic with job loss or reduced hours of work. The Association is looking at ways to provide compensation to all of the membership and not just those that are able to attend the AGM. This year’s AGM will take place Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 from the comfort of your home! We will send out more information shortly.
Thank you in advance for your patience as we move through the next few weeks.
