Strathcona County appreciates our partnership with your association to help keep youth actively engaged outdoors during these difficult COVID-19 times. Outdoor ice surfaces continue to be popular, and we have been fortunate to have the majority of our community respecting the current restrictions in place by the Government of Alberta to limit the spread of COVID-19.
As COVID-19 continues to impact our community, we ask for your continued support in sharing the above messaging with your membership that outlines maximum numbers at the ice surfaces, and the current provincial prohibition of any shinny/pickup hockey or ringette play on County ice surfaces.
As a reminder:
Strathcona County monitors ice usage and works with bylaw officers to educate and address breaches of posted restrictions.
As part of our continued efforts to provide as many safe skating surfaces as possible, Strathcona County has launched a new outdoor rink monitoring dashboard. This web-based map showcases the use patterns of boarded rinks, and provides a snapshot view of the boarded rink use, which enables people to consider choosing a less-busy rink to skate on.
Visit Strathcona.ca/outdoorrinks to view the interactive dashboard.
In addition, please feel free to share this 15 second advertisement (PSA) that reinforces that we can still have fun outdoors, safely.
Thank you for your support in keeping our community as safe as possible.
