What is Open Ringette?

A league intended for players that are 18 years or older

It is an adult league therefore team members will be responsible for finding team representatives to fulfill roles that were usually done by parents (manager, treasurer, correspondence between SPRA and NAWRA, tournaments, schedule management, etc)

Open ringette is tiered as Open A, Open B and Open C

Open A - highly competitive - ex-NRL and AA players.

Open B - very competitive - AA or A level players

Open C - competitive - A or B level players

Open teams play in the NAWRA (Northern Alberta Women’s Ringette League)
What to expect in Open Ringette?

League games are usually once a week
-
Often later evenings, could start as late as 10:30 pm on weekdays

Games may be on weekends

Arenas are in and around the Edmonton area

arenas may be up to 45 minutes outside of Edmonton. Eg .Riviere Que Barre

There will be team fees to cover league deposits, jersey deposits, tournament and provincial fees.

Your registration fees for SPRA will cover costs for league game ice, referees and your Ringette Alberta fee

Additional practices may involve additional costs to the team.

There will be volunteer commitments for the time box (teams will decide how to cover these shifts)

NAWRA may issue fines for several reasons (eg. not enough players, misconduct) Fines will be the responsibility of the team not SPRA
